Role purpose
This position is focused on carrying out day-to-day preventive and corrective maintenance across balance-of-plant systems so they continue to operate reliably. The role also includes planning and recording maintenance work, checking environmental compliance, and validating financial transactions through site measurements. In addition, the job involves monitoring equipment condition through inspections, overseeing on-site manpower and PPE usage, and working with quality teams to preserve system integrity.
Key responsibilities
- Perform routine preventive and corrective maintenance to support dependable operation of DM plant, Light Diesel Oil fuel systems, firefighting systems, cooling water duct systems, RO systems, and sea intake systems.
- Carry out maintenance work during opportunity shutdowns and other planned downtime windows.
- Handle painting work and refurbishment of major spare parts as required.
- Close maintenance notifications and work orders after completion, ensuring all tasks meet the expected standard.
- Prepare and follow seasonal maintenance plans, corrosion-prevention plans, and rolling maintenance schedules.
- Arrange scrap collection and movement to the store while remaining aligned with environmental rules and site requirements.
- Maintain thorough maintenance records and documentation for reference and continuous improvement.
- Take site measurements for bill checking and verification to support accurate financial processing.
- Execute CAPEX-related project work and support timely completion.
- Create reservation slips for materials issued from stores and manage return of unused spares.
- Inspect equipment regularly, identify abnormal conditions, and promptly report issues to the team lead.
- Attend and fix leakages in firefighting and gas systems.
- Track the attendance of business associates on a daily basis and ensure proper PPE usage as well as tool and tackle condition.
- Conduct equipment trials to confirm performance and conformity to specifications.
- Coordinate with the quality team for duct coating systems.
- Monitor sacrificial anodes and ICCP systems used for cooling water ducts.
- Apply IMS, AWMS, DISHA, and CHETNA guidelines in day-to-day work.
- Support workplace safety through training, safety protocol compliance, and active risk awareness.
- Conduct tool box talks to reinforce safe working practices and operational discipline.
- Maintain 5S standards in the assigned area to keep the workplace orderly and efficient.
- Ensure site safety compliance is consistently followed.
- Follow SOPs, SMPs, and JSAs while executing maintenance and project activities.
- Contribute to digitization, automation, process improvement, and adoption of newer technologies where applicable.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Technology or Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- At least 5 years of experience in industrial plant maintenance and project management.
- Prior exposure to power generation, petrochemical, or heavy industrial environments is preferred.
- Ability to manage maintenance execution, documentation, inspections, compliance, and site coordination effectively.
