About the Role

We are seeking Domestic Assistants for the Perth & Kinross Locality, primarily based at PRI, to support the Domestic Services Department by maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness throughout healthcare settings. These settings include wards, side rooms, theatres, offices, health centers, and GP practices.
Working Hours and Conditions
- Band 2 position
- Monday to Friday roster
- Shift timing: 5 PM to 9 PM
- Contracted hours: 15 hours per week
- May require working on public holidays (e.g., Christmas, New Year) with advance allocation
- Work involves walking, standing, bending, stretching, pushing, pulling, and lifting, using appropriate aids
- Work environment may include busy clinical and non-clinical areas, places with increased heat, secure units, and spaces with distressed or infected patients
Key Responsibilities
- Perform cleaning duties methodically across various healthcare environments to uphold hygiene standards
- Work independently or collaboratively as part of a team, including lone working when necessary
- Complete associated domestic paperwork accurately
- Follow instructions carefully and carry out all duties safely and competently
- Maintain confidentiality and demonstrate a professional approach at all times
- Undertake mandatory training both online and in person
- Adapt to changing situations and respond effectively under pressure
Essential Skills and Attributes
- Effective verbal and written communication skills to relay information clearly
- Ability to handle unpredictable situations constructively
- Awareness of fundamental Health & Safety and Infection Control practices relevant to the role
- Reliability and responsibility in fulfilling assigned duties
- Willingness to learn and adapt continuously
Additional Information
- Domestic Assistants may be required to work across different NHS Tayside locations as needed
- Completion of the Health Care Support Workers Workbook is required for competency assurance
- Compliance with the NHS Code of Conduct is mandatory throughout employment
