Job description
Job Overview
The Director of Finance acts as the primary financial authority at Koforidua Technical University, serving as the Chief Accounting Officer and key financial advisor to the Vice-Chancellor. This role entails comprehensive oversight of the university's fiscal management to maintain its financial stability, including supervision of accounting personnel and ensuring compliance with statutory financial regulations.
Principal Duties
- Lead all financial affairs, including the collection of all legitimate revenues owed to the university.
- Oversee expenditure control aligning with university objectives and approved budgets.
- Ensure the preparation of financial statements follows the Technical Universities Act 2016 (Act 992), harmonized statutes, accounting standards, and applicable national laws.
- Collaborate with external auditors to facilitate the auditing of financial statements.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Chartered Accountant with a Master’s Degree in a relevant discipline.
- Minimum of six years’ experience as a Deputy Director of Finance or equivalent in a university or similar organization.
- Possess analytical, critical thinking, innovative, and visionary qualities.
- Ability to work independently and under pressure to meet deadlines.
- Demonstrated strong communication, interpersonal, and supervisory capabilities.
- Good teamwork skills and advanced information technology proficiency, including familiarity with accounting software.
Terms and Conditions
- Appointment is for a four-year term with eligibility for one reappointment term, subject to retirement age restrictions.
