Job description
Role Overview
The Data Steward position involves managing and ensuring the quality and integrity of operational technology (OT) data streams and telemetry datasets within industrial environments. The incumbent will be responsible for maintaining high-quality, accurate, and comprehensive datasets to support analytics, operations, and decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and continuously monitor the quality, accuracy, and completeness of OT data streams and telemetry datasets.
- Develop and implement rule-based validation, cleanup, and anomaly detection to address corrupted, missing, or duplicated sensor tags.
- Standardize digital representation of physical assets by defining asset models, schema mappings, and tag naming conventions across industrial units.
- Supervise and validate data curation, transformation rules, and table structures within Databricks and Enterprise Data Lakehouse platforms.
- Maintain comprehensive data catalogs, dictionaries, and metadata records for OT and plant-related data assets.
- Enforce compliance with enterprise data governance frameworks, including data security, standards, and lifecycle management.
- Collaborate effectively with engineering teams, plant operations, IT, and analytics groups to ensure operational data aligns with business objectives.
- Perform root-cause investigations on data quality issues and implement alerting mechanisms to safeguard continuous data availability.
- Support business intelligence and advanced analytics by delivering validated, reliable time-series and operational data.

Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Instrumentation, Computer Science, Electrical), Data Science, Information Technology, or related disciplines.
- 3 to 5 years of practical experience in data stewardship, quality management, or operational data analytics.
- In-depth knowledge of industrial telemetry, time-series datasets, sensor networks, and automation control systems like PLC, DCS, SCADA.
- Hands-on exposure to Databricks platforms (including Lakehouse architecture, Delta tables, and SQL querying) and cloud data infrastructures.
- Advanced skills in SQL, data validation methods, exploratory data analysis, and managing extensive operational datasets.
- Familiarity with data visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, Looker, or Grafana along with data cataloguing software.
- Proven ability to preserve data integrity, diagnose anomalies, and document data processes effectively.
