Role Overview
This dynamic position at the Australasian Railway Association involves shaping impactful communications around key policy and advocacy matters. The role supports disseminating industry research and delivering effective communication to a national membership network exceeding 240 organisations across Australia and New Zealand.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and execute communication campaigns aligned with ARA's advocacy and policy objectives.
- Develop engaging fortnightly and monthly electronic newsletters.
- Create persuasive content for digital, social media, and traditional channels.
- Provide timely and relevant updates to ARA members.
- Produce high-quality written material for publications, campaigns, reports, and stakeholder communications.
- Manage communication platforms ensuring brand consistency.
- Promote industry research, events, and significant initiatives effectively.
Candidate Profile
- Proven professional experience in communications, public affairs, or closely related areas.
- Exceptional skills in writing, editing, and storytelling.
- Aptitude for quickly understanding complex policy and industry topics.
- Confident in generating content for diverse channels and audiences.
- Strong organisational abilities with capacity to manage competing priorities effectively.
- Collaborative mindset complemented by high accountability and an inquisitive approach.
Applicants will be comfortable crafting strategic campaigns, drafting social media content, producing newsletters, and working cross-functionally to deliver high-quality communications.
About Australasian Railway Association (ARA)
ARA serves as the peak body for the rail sector in both Australia and New Zealand, representing over 240 member organisations spanning the entire rail ecosystem including passenger and freight operators, track owners and contractors, as well as suppliers and consultants driving innovation and growth.
ARA's workforce is expanding nationally with headquarters in Canberra and distributed team members working remotely across Australia. This specific role is Sydney-based, with work-from-home flexibility, while the head office remains in Canberra.
