Cleaner 1st Shift

Role summary

The janitorial cleaner, working under the guidance of the Janitorial Supervisor or Manager, is responsible for keeping buildings and adjoining areas clean, sanitary, and orderly. The role calls for strong customer service behavior and a willingness to learn proper cleaning methods.

Core duties

• Vacuum, sweep, and mop floors and stairways.
• Disinfect and clean restrooms.
• Wipe down sinks, counters, microwaves, and refrigerators in break areas.
• Replenish supplies in restrooms, break rooms, and shared spaces.
• Remove waste from all bins, replace liners, and clean containers when needed.
• Dust and clean uncluttered office desks and furniture.
• Clean windows and window sills.
• Keep janitor closets tidy, organized, and safe.
• Maintain janitorial tools and equipment so they remain clean, safe, and working properly.
• Use cleaning chemicals correctly, including proper labeling and dilution.
• Wear required personal protective equipment at all times.
• Keep vending closets neat, organized, and safe.
• Carry out other routine maintenance tasks as assigned.

Interaction and teamwork

• Work with leaders and key stakeholders.
• Interact professionally with customers, visitors, and clients.
• Coordinate with fellow employees as needed.

Requirements

• At least 6 months of relevant experience in customer service and/or facility services is required.
• A valid driver's license is considered an advantage.
• Prior floor care experience is a plus.
• Strong communication and interpersonal abilities are needed.
• Good customer service skills are important.
• Ability to handle several priorities at once.
• Careful attention to detail.

Physical demands

• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Requires attention to detail, good organization, and the ability to work in different physical positions such as standing, sitting, walking, bending, and performing repetitive movements.
