About the Role
Under the supervision of the Crown Solicitor, the Chief Operating Officer (COO) will oversee the business and corporate operations of Crown Law, which serves as the Queensland Government's centralized legal service provider. As an integral member of the Executive Leadership Team (ELT), you will guide strategic and operational aspects across finance, human resources, technology, governance, and corporate functions, ensuring that Crown Law is positioned to provide efficient, modern, and financially viable legal services.
Responsibilities
You will lead a multidisciplinary workforce of around 40 full-time equivalents (FTEs), cultivating business transformation initiatives, enhancing organizational capability, refining systems and operational procedures, fostering productive stakeholder engagement, and ensuring corporate services support the delivery of top-quality legal services to government stakeholders.
Serving as the business operations leader, you will work closely with the Crown Solicitor and senior management to enhance operational performance and strengthen organizational capacity within the Department of Justice context.
A central focus of your role will be spearheading strategic projects that update and modernize governance structures, service delivery models, systems, and processes. Your strong project management expertise will support an ongoing transformation agenda focused on boosting efficiency, capacity, and innovation. The ability to navigate between high-level strategy and practical execution will be essential to achieving outcomes and driving change management.
Ideal Candidate Profile
We seek an experienced executive with a proven background managing complex corporate, operational, and business support functions at an executive leadership level. You will have overseen multidisciplinary teams in intricate organizational environments and demonstrated substantial achievement in operational enhancements, business transformation, project execution, governance, and capacity building.
Experience within professional services, legal, regulatory, or public sector settings will be highly advantageous. A thorough understanding of the accountability and stakeholder frameworks in government will augment your effectiveness in this role.
