Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Chemist to join our team at Aljomaih Energy and Water Company in Ash Shimasiyah, Al Qasim, Saudi Arabia. The role focuses on managing water quality, chemical testing, and compliance within an industrial plant environment, particularly in water treatment and chemical process optimization.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage water treatment programs for cooling water, boiler feed water, and wastewater to ensure compliance with regulatory and industry standards.
- Perform regular water quality analyses including pH, conductivity, alkalinity, and related chemical properties, adjusting treatment methods as necessary.
- Conduct both qualitative and quantitative chemical analyses on fuels, lubricants, and process fluids to maintain optimal plant conditions.
- Develop and validate standard operating procedures for laboratory chemical testing and analyses.
- Oversee the procurement, storage, and proper handling of chemicals ensuring alignment with safety protocols and environmental guidelines.
- Maintain sufficient inventory levels of chemical consumables and laboratory equipment to support uninterrupted lab operations.
- Track chemical usage precisely and document inventory for accurate record-keeping.
- Adhere strictly to health, safety, security, and environmental procedures to maintain compliance in all chemical and waste management activities.
- Prepare necessary reports for environmental audits and regulatory bodies.
- Collaborate closely with operations, maintenance, and engineering teams to offer chemical expertise for plant performance optimization.
- Participate actively in troubleshooting and root cause analysis related to chemical and operational issues.
- Promote and enforce a strong safety culture regarding chemical and laboratory practices and provide training for plant personnel on chemical safety and handling.
- Remain informed on latest chemical processes and technologies to drive improvements in efficiency and environmental performance.
- Conduct research aimed at enhancing chemical treatment methodologies and processes.
- Maintain detailed records of chemical tests, usage, compliance statuses, and other relevant documentation.
- Prepare periodic summary reports detailing chemical performance, compliance, and suggestions for process improvements.
- Support the pre-commissioning phase including design review, installation, testing, and trial operations of chemical systems.
- Review and finalize operation and maintenance manuals and develop site-specific procedures and work instructions.
- Authorize maintenance team members as permit receivers and ensure timely subcontract placements.
- Ensure readiness of laboratory and chemical management systems and well-trained staff for operational periods.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Environmental Science, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related field. A Master's degree or higher is preferred.
- At least 10 years of pertinent experience in chemical analysis and laboratory operations, ideally within power generation or industrial chemical environments.
- In-depth knowledge of chemical properties, water treatment processes, and applicable environmental regulations related to power plants.
- Proficiency in laboratory techniques such as titration, spectroscopy, and chromatography.
- Understanding of regulatory frameworks governing water quality and chemical management along with industry best practices.
