Biosecurity Auditor Containment

Position Summary

We are seeking a dedicated Biosecurity Auditor to join a permanent role based in Wellington City. The core responsibility is to conduct verification programmes for high-risk containment and transitional facilities as part of New Zealand's efforts to guard against pest and disease threats under the Biosecurity Act 1993. This role ensures rigorous auditing to enhance our biosecurity system and secure trade that supports the nation’s economy and wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities

• Implement verification programmes at complex and high-priority facilities.
• Perform investigations and conduct unannounced verification visits where necessary.

Candidate Profile

• Experience working within laboratory or containment environments, with a clear understanding of laboratory operational procedures.
• A relevant scientific qualification is essential.
• Auditing experience is advantageous.
• Self-motivated individual who thrives both independently and collaboratively.
• Resilient with a results-oriented mindset.
• Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
• Ability to build and maintain professional relationships through active listening and engagement.
• Capable of making timely decisions balancing thoroughness with urgency.
• Experience in offering technical guidance, coaching, and regulatory compliance direction to staff and partners.
• Proven leadership in delivering assurance, review, and compliance programs in complex settings.
• Experience leading investigations, audits, or risk assessments to address organizational challenges.
• Holds a full valid New Zealand driver’s license.
