Job description
Role Overview
Chemist Warehouse New Zealand is seeking a proficient Back-End Developer to architect, develop, and sustain high-quality, scalable backend systems supporting their digital initiatives in New Zealand. This position focuses on designing robust backend services and APIs that connect flawlessly with both frontend interfaces and Australian systems.
Key Responsibilities
As an integral part of the local web development team, the developer will collaborate closely with frontend developers, QA teams, business stakeholders, and counterparts in Australia to produce reliable and high-performance features. Reporting to the Web Development Team Lead, this role contributes substantially to evolving backend architectures.
Technical Proficiencies Required
- Expertise in C#, ASP.NET, .NET Core, and SQL Server.
- Experience creating enterprise-scale applications, APIs, and system integrations.
- Familiarity with .NET 8 and newer, serverless computing (Azure Functions, GCP Cloud Run), and contemporary backend design patterns.
- Understanding of microservices, event-driven designs, distributed systems, and GraphQL.
- Competence with Docker containerization, CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions or Azure DevOps, and Git version control workflows.
- Strong command over relational and NoSQL database technologies.
Additional Preferred Skills
- Experience with Node.js and NestJS frameworks.
- Knowledge of e-commerce or transactional platform environments.
Other Requirements
The selected candidate must satisfactorily clear a National Criminal History Check to fulfill employment conditions.
Work Environment
This is a contract position requiring onsite presence at the Auckland location, contributing to a collaborative and innovative development atmosphere.
