Role Overview
The role of the Architecture Specialist is based full-time and on-site in Dunedin. This position involves working closely with the Mason & Wales team on a variety of architectural assignments. Daily activities include crafting architectural concepts, preparing detailed design documentation and drawings, coordinating efforts with consultants and contractors, and contributing to the planning and execution phases of projects. The specialist integrates practical functionality, aesthetic appeal, and sustainability objectives into unified design solutions while ensuring compliance with applicable codes and regulatory standards. Responsibilities extend to attending client meetings, presenting design alternatives, incorporating client feedback, and assisting in refining outcomes. Key attributes for success in this role include teamwork, clear communication, and meticulous attention to detail.
Qualifications and Skills
- Solid knowledge and experience in Architecture and Architectural Design with proven delivery of built projects.
- Familiarity with Solution Architecture and integration practices to harmonize structural, building services, and interior components into seamless designs.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively articulate design concepts to clients, collaborators, consultants, and contractors.
- Proficient in CAD/BIM and other relevant design and documentation software; knowledgeable about New Zealand building codes and regulations.
- Possession of a professional architectural qualification and either registration or eligibility for registration with an accredited architectural organization.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, a collaborative mindset, and a dedication to producing sustainable, high-caliber designs.
- Prior experience in master planning and commercial or residential architectural projects, ideally within multidisciplinary teams.
