About the role
Kong is looking for an Account Development Rep to join its Sales Development function in Singapore. The role is focused on creating interest in Kong’s offerings, identifying promising new business opportunities, and qualifying them for the sales organization. This position is designed as a strong launchpad for a long-term career in sales, with SDRs seen as future Account Executives.
The team works closely with Sales and Marketing to build enthusiasm around Kong’s platform. You will learn the product, the market, the audience, and the reasons customers choose Kong, while developing the skills needed to generate pipeline and run effective discovery and qualification conversations.
Kong places significant emphasis on learning and growth. New hires receive a two-week sales bootcamp, regular one-on-one mentorship, and global virtual group training. The role is also supported by leadership that actively coaches SDRs, helps them build business and sales judgment, and prepares them for their next step.
First 90 days
The onboarding plan is structured around the first three months:
- By the end of month 1, you should have met the team, completed sales bootcamp, become familiar with Kong’s wider organization, and developed an understanding of what makes the product offering distinctive and how Sales Development, Marketing, and Account Executives work together.
- By the end of month 2, you should be comfortable speaking with prospects by phone, have begun working with Account Executives on your first opportunity, shadowed numerous calls, practiced role-plays, and started contributing toward your ramp quota.
- By the end of month 3, you should know the sales funnel well, demonstrate Kong’s sales methodology, share useful insights with Sales Development and Marketing, and deliver against your ramp quota.
Key responsibilities
You will help generate qualified opportunities and support the sales pipeline through both inbound and outbound activity.
- Partner with the Sales team to create inbound and outbound campaigns from the initial idea stage through to a qualified conversation.
- Build a solid understanding of Kong’s products and the sales motion around them.
- Engage IT and business decision-makers through phone, video, LinkedIn, and email.
- Maintain accurate lead and prospect records in Salesforce for effective lead handling.
- Arrange qualified introductory meetings for the Sales team.
- Warm up early-stage opportunities so they can become future pipeline.
- Work toward and exceed monthly and quarterly opportunity targets.
- Develop strong working relationships with Marketing and Account Executives to help maximize business outcomes.
- Continuously invest in personal development to strengthen the skills needed for current and future success.
- Take on other tasks assigned by the manager as needed.
What you should bring

- At least 1 year of solid experience in sales or a customer-facing position.
- A proactive, self-driven approach with a history of meeting and exceeding targets.
- A hunter mindset with comfort around prospecting, cold calling, and following up on inbound leads.
- Willingness to learn, adapt, and share lessons with the wider organization.
- Openness to feedback and the ability to incorporate it into daily work.
- Excellent communication skills, both spoken and written, along with strong active listening.
- High drive, strong work ethic, curiosity, and a strong focus on achieving sales goals.
- Proven leadership qualities and the ability to work both independently and with coaching.
- Comfort operating in a demanding, fast-paced environment.
- Interest in advanced technology and the ability to quickly learn IT software products and business-critical solutions.
