Role Overview
The Zakat & Tax Lead is entrusted with the comprehensive management of all Zakat and tax compliance duties, guaranteeing conformity with the standards set forth by the Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA). This position entails overseeing tax return preparation, review, and submission, orchestrating tax audits, delivering tax advisory services, and pinpointing enhancements for tax process efficiency while ensuring full compliance with legal requirements. Acting as the primary contact between Rua Al Madinah Holding and tax authorities, this role handles audits and discrepancies, fostering a precise understanding of zakat and tax obligations across the company. The role is vital for maintaining the organization's financial integrity, regulatory adherence, and minimization of tax risks.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate tax audits performed by the General Authority of Zakat and Tax (GAZT).
- Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closure activities related to zakat and taxes.
- Maintain accurate Zakat and tax reporting systems.
- Regularly monitor zakat and tax accrual accounts each month to ensure timely and correct provision booking.
- Review monthly withholding tax and Value Added Tax (VAT) calculations.
- Ensure timely filing of tax returns to avoid penalties for delays.
- Keep updated on evolving zakat, tax, and VAT regulations by frequently reviewing the ZATCA website.
- Respond promptly to authority inquiries.
- Evaluate draft submissions for monthly, quarterly, and yearly returns prior to official submission to ZATCA.
- Create regular reports in collaboration with finance teams to prompt early corrective measures when necessary.
- Maintain a registry of non-compliant suppliers and customers for follow-up of outstanding issues.
- Adhere strictly to all applicable functional policies, standardized procedures, and instructions for consistent and controlled execution of tasks.
- Produce accurate, timely reports and functional deliverables in line with corporate and departmental requirements, policies, and standards.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of five years’ practical experience in zakat and tax management.
- Demonstrated experience handling ZATCA audits and assessments directly.
- Preference for candidates with background in real estate, construction, or large corporate sectors.
- Proficiency with ERP systems, specifically Oracle Fusion or SAP.
