Role Overview
We are seeking a full-time, permanent Youth Tutor based in Manukau to deliver engaging and practical instruction to Level 2 Youth Guarantee learners. The role involves fostering a nurturing and inclusive classroom environment where every student feels valued and motivated. You will provide mentoring, pastoral care, and educational support to help learners develop practical skills and self-confidence, supporting their progression into further education. Collaboration with the Learner Success team and campus staff is essential to provide learners with comprehensive guidance and help them achieve successful educational outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and conduct creative, hands-on lessons that meet program objectives.
- Track learner progress and offer timely assessments and constructive feedback.
- Establish strong partnerships with support services and community organizations.
- Maintain detailed learner records and ensure compliance with NZQA standards.
- Participate in program development and continuous quality improvement efforts.
- Keep updated with current trends and practices within the hair and beauty industry.
Candidate Profile
- Demonstrated passion for working with youth and creating engaging, practical learning environments.
- Ability to build positive relationships with learners while maintaining supportive yet high expectations.
- Preferably holds qualifications or industry experience in Hairdressing, Barbering, Beauty Therapy, or related fields (not mandatory).
- Experience in teaching, mentoring, coaching, or training others is advantageous.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Skilled in motivating learners from diverse backgrounds.
- Strong organization and administrative abilities.
- Commitment to culturally responsive and inclusive teaching practices.
- Experience teaching youth or adult learners in tertiary or similar education settings is preferred but not essential.
