Youth Leader - Adventurous Outdoor Program (Springlands Sea Scout Group)

About the Role

Springlands Sea Scout Group in central Blenheim is seeking new Adult Youth Leaders to support and guide youth aged 8 to 18 years in their Cub, Scout, and Venturer programs. The role involves helping run an engaging program focused on personal development, leadership skills, and adventurous outdoor activities.

The group offers a well-established community experience with activities such as climbing, cycling, hiking, swimming, kayaking, canoeing, sailing, and rowing. Volunteers will collaborate with a dedicated team of experienced Leaders and be furnished with a uniform shirt and scarf upon investment into the worldwide Scouting movement with over 40 million members.

Responsibilities

• Assist in delivering engaging and adventurous programs for youth in Cubs, Scouts, and Venturers sections.
• Support young people aged 8-18 to develop leadership and personal skills.
• Participate in planning term programs and camps.
• Attend regular evening meetings: Cubs on Tuesdays 6:15-7:45pm, Scouts on Thursdays 6-8pm, and Venturers on Monday evenings.
• Occasionally attend weekend and evening training sessions as required.

Requirements

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Demonstrated interest in working with and supporting youth.
• Willingness to undertake training provided by Scouts Aotearoa.
• Successful completion of a Police background check is mandatory.

Additional Information

• The role is located onsite in Blenheim, Marlborough, New Zealand.
• Training and ongoing support will be provided.
• Time commitment includes weekly meetings and occasional planning and training activities.
