Role overview
Crosscare Ronanstown Youth Service is looking for a Youth Justice Worker to join The Valley Project YDP in Dublin Mid-West. This role sits within Crosscare’s wider mission of supporting people and families facing serious challenges, delivered through a service approach grounded in care, dignity, respect and high standards.
The project is funded through the European Social Fund and the Irish Youth Justice Service, Department of Justice and Equality. Youth Diversion Projects are delivered with support from the Irish Youth Justice Service in partnership with An Garda Síochána.
Working arrangement
This is a permanent, full-time position based onsite in Dublin, County Dublin, Ireland. The working week is 37.5 hours and is flexible, with 3 evenings and occasional weekends required to meet service needs.
You will report to the manager/team leader and be expected to work in line with Crosscare policies and guidelines.
Main duties
- Build relationships with project participants and support them with issues linked to offending, substance use and/or anti-social behaviour through a youth work approach.
- Process project referrals through the Referral Committee.
- Work alongside Gardaí and local partner agencies to shape suitable responses to participants’ needs.
- Maintain project records and prepare updates, reports, the Annual Plan and annual reports through a consultative process with Gardaí.
- Attend Project Committee meetings and provide progress reports when needed.
- Deliver youth work interventions in the catchment area in line with the approved Youth Diversion Project plan.
- Support participants to move towards sustainable employment by mapping routes into work, second-chance education and training.
- Help challenge discrimination in labour market access and progression, and encourage inclusion and diversity in the workplace.
- Take part in approved training and carry out additional duties required by Crosscare, IYJS, Gardaí or the project committee to support project development and annual plan delivery.
- Implement programmes in line with funding requirements.
- Represent the project and Youth Service at relevant meetings and committees when requested.
- Submit all paperwork within required deadlines.
- Work according to the ethos and values of Crosscare.
- Complete any other duties assigned by your line manager.
Essential requirements
- A third-level qualification in Youth Work, or another relevant discipline, at degree level.
- At least 1 year of experience in this sector working with challenging young people.
- A full clean driving licence and access to your own transport.
