Youth Enrichment Director

Position Overview

The Director of the Janney Enrichment Program spearheads the strategic direction, day-to-day management, and team leadership for after-school enrichment classes focused on children from Pre-K4 through 5th grade. This full-time, year-round role also manages summer programs and collaborates with senior leadership to align the program with the organization's larger goals.

Key Responsibilities

• Strategic Vision: Design and implement a dynamic and accessible enrichment and summer program tailored to student interests and family needs.
• Vendor and Partnership Management: Identify, recruit, and negotiate with instructors and partners to uphold program quality and financial viability.
• Financial Oversight: Craft and oversee the program budget, ensuring enrollment targets and fiscal health are achieved.
• Collaboration: Partner with executive leadership and board members to integrate enrichment initiatives with broader organizational objectives.
• Operational Management: Coordinate enrollment, scheduling, facility use, and daily program logistics.
• Staff and Vendor Supervision: Assess and guide program staff and instructors to deliver consistent, engaging experiences.
• Administrative Duties: Maintain precise records, including financials, contracts, enrollment data, and payroll processes.
• Student Support and Safety: Collaborate with families and school staff on student behavioral expectations and ensure safety through established policies and emergency procedures.
• Resource Procurement: Manage acquisition of supplies and equipment essential for the program.
• Community Engagement and Culture: Promote an inclusive, welcoming atmosphere; foster strong relationships with families and community members; lead staff development; and represent the organization publicly.

Candidate Profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Education or related discipline with a minimum of five years’ experience in school, nonprofit leadership, youth development, or enrichment program management.
• Deep understanding of child development principles, behavior management methods, and student needs.
• Proficient in technology platforms relevant to program administration such as Microsoft Office, Paychex/Flex, and Campsite.
• Demonstrated ability in budget management, time and resource allocation, and maintaining accurate documentation.
• Strong communication capabilities, excelling in building cooperative relationships with all stakeholders.
• Competent in basic first aid, emergency response, and ensuring children’s physical and emotional wellbeing.
• Ability to meet physical requirements and successfully complete the DC Public Schools clearance process.

Compensation and Benefits

Annual salary ranges from $75,000 to $88,000. The benefits package includes 401(k) matching, dental and vision insurance, flexible spending and health savings accounts, comprehensive health coverage, paid time off, parental leave, professional development support, and retirement planning.
