Job description
About the Role
The LA Clippers Youth Basketball Program seeks motivated and dedicated coaches to support various Jr. Clippers initiatives including youth basketball clinics, camps, tournaments, community events, and Game Day activities. This part-time position based in Inglewood, CA, involves working at Intuit Dome games and throughout the greater Los Angeles area for youth programming.
The job requires a flexible schedule encompassing mornings, evenings, weekends, school holidays, summer sessions, and some select holidays. Candidates are expected to commit to attending at least 25% of all scheduled shifts monthly.
Key Responsibilities
- Instruct young athletes in basketball fundamentals utilizing age-appropriate drills and activities designed for skill development.
- Ensure safety of participants during transitions, check-ins, breaks, and other off-court times while maintaining an organized and positive atmosphere.
- Create and nurture an inclusive environment that promotes confidence, teamwork, and enthusiasm for basketball among kids of all ages and abilities.
- Work collaboratively with other youth coaches to deliver engaging and energetic sessions.
- Act as a professional role model demonstrating enthusiasm, strong sportsmanship, and commitment to the team’s values.
Qualifications and Skills
- Prior experience working with youth in roles such as coaching, camp counseling, or teaching is essential.
- Capability to lead and oversee children aged 6 to 14 in a secure, welcoming, and stimulating setting.
- Passion for basketball and strong alignment with the LA Clippers brand identity.
- Excellent communication and public speaking abilities.
- Proven leadership, teamwork, and interpersonal skills.
- Dependable, well-organized, and flexible to adapt in dynamic environments.
- Must be at least 18 years old and hold a valid driver's license.
- Willingness to travel locally around Southern California regions including Antelope Valley, Greater Los Angeles, South Bay, and Orange County.
- Ability and readiness to transport basketball equipment when required.
- CPR and First Aid certification is preferable but not mandatory.
Physical and Environmental Requirements
- Capability to actively participate in physically demanding youth programs.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull equipment/materials up to 35 pounds.
- Comfortable bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and reaching as needed for duties.
- Ability to remain standing or walking for extended durations during shifts.
- Work performed both indoors and outdoors, potentially exposed to various weather conditions including heat, cold, rain, wind, humidity, and direct sun.
- Schedule flexibility to cover mornings, evenings, weekends, school breaks, summer sessions, and certain holidays in accordance with business needs.
Compensation
This hourly position pays $18.42 and is categorized as non-exempt under applicable labor laws.
