Role Summary
This full-time, on-site position at PlaceMakers Wairau Park in Auckland focuses on yard and drive-thru operations. The team member will load and unload customer vehicles and delivery trucks safely, handle building materials and hardware, support customers with product questions, and make sure orders are picked, staged, and ready accurately. The role also involves keeping the yard tidy, safe, and well arranged, using vehicles and equipment when needed, and following all health and safety requirements while working with the wider team to deliver efficient service.
What the Role Involves
- Safely load and unload customer vehicles as well as incoming and outgoing delivery trucks.
- Handle building materials and hardware products across the yard and drive-thru area.
- Help customers with enquiries and provide clear, practical support.
- Pick, prepare, and stage orders accurately.
- Keep the work area clean, orderly, and safe at all times.
- Operate vehicles and equipment as required for day-to-day tasks.
- Work in line with health and safety procedures.
- Coordinate closely with colleagues, drivers, and customers to keep operations running smoothly.
Candidate Profile
The ideal person is dependable, hands-on, and committed to providing a positive customer experience. You should be comfortable working in a physically active environment, able to communicate well, and capable of handling warehouse or yard work with care and attention.
Additional Requirements
- Truck driving experience and confidence operating trucks safely in a yard or delivery setting.
- A valid CDL Class A or equivalent heavy vehicle licence, with a strong safety mindset.
- Good communication skills for working with team members, drivers, and customers in a professional way.
- Solid customer service ability, including helping resolve questions and keeping interactions friendly and helpful.
- Physical fitness and the ability to lift and move building materials safely while following safety standards.
- Experience in warehousing, yard operations, or the building materials sector is an advantage.
- Reliability, punctuality, and willingness to work full time, including some weekend or rostered shifts.
- Basic reading, writing, and numeracy skills for handling orders, labels, and paperwork.
- Forklift licence, or a willingness to train for one, is a plus.
Work Arrangement
This is a full-time, onsite role based in Auckland.
