Job description

Role Overview

As a Workplace Relations Advisor reporting directly to the Workplace Relations Manager, you will be part of a team offering expert advice on employee and industrial relations. Your role is critical in shaping effective strategies, processes, and interventions aligned with the department's Enterprise Agreement and relevant Commonwealth legislation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct internal investigations related to suspected breaches of the APS Code of Conduct.
  • Review and action employment decisions where required.
  • Implement conflict resolution strategies for disputes and employee grievances, adhering to the Fair Work Act 2009, Public Service Act 1999, accompanying regulations and directions, and the Bureau's Enterprise Agreement alongside its policies and procedures.
  • Manage and nurture the Agency’s relationship with unions.
  • Support and advise the business on change management and consultation obligations.
  • Provide secretariat support for the Bureau Consultative Committee and other relevant forums.
  • Maintain meticulous records and utilize strong data reporting and communication skills.
  • Contribute to capability development across other APS agencies by promoting and overseeing the Workplace Relations and Policy Interagency Forum.
