Job description

Overview

The Columbia County Chamber of Commerce is inviting applications for a dedicated Workforce Development Manager to spearhead the creation, operation, and oversight of workforce and education initiatives. This role is essential for progressing the objectives of the Chamber and Foundation, including meeting financial targets. The position encompasses responsibilities such as program design, grant procurement, marketing efforts, event organization, fundraising, sales activities, and leading the Workforce and Education Committee along with the Foundation Board. Additionally, the manager will participate in governmental relations and advocate for workforce-focused public policies.

Key Duties

  • Coordinate and execute events and programs for the Chamber Foundation
  • Provide leadership for the Workforce and Education Committee
  • Drive financial growth to fulfill goals of the Foundation and committee
  • Lead grant proposal writing and fundraising initiatives
  • Manage event logistics for workforce and education activities such as Counselor Lunch and Learn, Principal for a Day, and Career and College Expo
  • Engage in workforce-related government affairs and public policy advocacy
  • Serve as a professional representative of the Chamber to members and the wider community

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, business, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities
  • Experience with government relations, policy advocacy, and workforce development initiatives
  • Proficient in organizational and interpersonal skills with computer competency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Publisher, and Outlook
  • Background in event management
  • Experience managing volunteer teams and leadership groups
  • Willingness to work primarily onsite, including some early mornings, evenings, and occasional weekends
  • Physical ability to stand, sit, drive, lift up to 20 pounds, handle deliveries, and climb stairs
