Job description
Role overview
This position is for a Workday specialist focused on Absence Management and Time Tracking. The role involves configuring core modules, shaping solution designs from business needs, and supporting testing, delivery, and stakeholder adoption.
Key responsibilities
You will be responsible for setting up and maintaining Workday time and absence functionality, including leave plans, accrual logic, balance calculations, carryover rules, leave-of-absence structures, time entry templates, eligibility conditions, work schedules, day-breaker settings, overtime rules across daily, weekly, and consecutive patterns, and shift differential logic.
The role also requires converting business needs into practical Workday designs, carrying out fit-gap analysis, understanding impacts on Payroll and HCM Core, and applying Workday configuration workbook practices through the full lifecycle from architecture and configuration to prototyping, testing, and deployment.
In addition, you will design and configure Workday business processes for time and absence, covering approval flows, condition-based routing, delegation logic, and notifications. You should also be able to identify and document differences from legacy systems such as SAP HCM Time / PT and Kronos.
Testing responsibilities include independently completing unit testing, supporting UAT, creating test scripts, and managing defects. The role further includes guiding IT, HR, and business teams on configuration choices, associated risks, and downstream effects, while actively sharing product knowledge and release updates such as bi-annual Workday enhancements, feature evaluation, and “What’s New” content.
Professional experience
The ideal candidate should have at least 3 years of practical configuration experience in Workday Time Tracking and/or Absence Management, preferably in a workstream lead or senior workstream role.
Strong knowledge of Workday’s data model in the time and absence space is important, including calculated fields, condition rules, and role-based security. Experience with multinational rollouts and country-specific compliance requirements is also expected.
Required qualifications
Workday certification in Absence Management and/or Time Tracking is required, with both certifications preferred. Hands-on experience with at least one integration tool, such as EIB, Workday Studio, or CCTP, is also needed. Business-fluent English is mandatory.
Strong plus
Experience with SAP HCM Time (PT module) or Kronos, knowledge of Workday Payroll integrations, and advanced reporting or calculated fields capability will be considered an advantage.
