Role overview
This contract role is for a Workday HR Specialist focused on benefits. The position is based onsite in the United States and requires working EST hours. The assignment centers on HR audit support, benefits data accuracy, and compliance-oriented operations within Workday and related HR processes.
Core responsibilities
- Act as a primary resource for HR audit support by finding, reviewing, and closing gaps across benefit programs and the HRIS environment.
- Work with HR partners and external vendors to handle escalations, especially those surfaced through audit results, using a consistent approach.
- Help maintain a strong employee experience in benefit programs while ensuring that processes, records, and supporting documents meet audit and compliance expectations.
- Record and categorize all work in the case management system in real time to preserve data quality and produce audit-ready reports.
- Suggest improvements to case management tools and templates so tracking, reporting, and compliance are better supported.
- Respond to ad hoc data and documentation requests, with special attention to audit-related inquiries.
- Spot repeating issues or patterns brought up by HR partners and prepare them for audit review and root cause analysis.
- Complete intake tasks when needed to keep audit workflows moving and maintain operational coverage.
- Recommend process enhancements based on audit outcomes and escalation trends.
- Support audit-focused reports and continuous improvement presentations for vendors and HR partners.
- Keep benefit records current and assemble documentation needed to validate audits and implement benefit coverage.
- Ensure benefit administration and payroll-related actions are completed accurately and on time to satisfy compliance and audit standards.
- Assist during annual Open Enrollment with a focus on audit readiness and correct data handling.
- Use sound judgment and discretion when managing audit matters and escalations.
- Maintain dependable attendance and flexibility to support audit cycles and deadline-driven work.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience working with Workday and large data sets.
- Strong background in HR benefits data and auditing.
- Availability to work EST hours.
