Role Overview
ACC seeks an experienced Workplace Health, Safety & Injury Manager to take a senior leadership position focused on safeguarding employee wellbeing, enhancing safety culture, and achieving sustainable return-to-work outcomes at the Cannon Hill site. Reporting to the Chief People Officer, this role entails developing and overseeing strategies for employee health, safety compliance, and injury management, leading a team of specialists, and partnering with senior leadership to foster a strong safety environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and lead ACC's strategies for health, safety, wellbeing, and injury management.
- Drive continuous improvement in return-to-work and injury management results.
- Oversee complex injury claims and rehabilitation efforts.
- Analyze WHS and injury-related risks and implement preventative measures.
- Ensure adherence to WHS legislation, workers’ compensation, and ACC policies.
- Lead, coach, and mentor the WHS and injury management team.
- Collaborate closely with senior leaders to embed a consistent, high-performing safety culture across diverse operations.
Qualifications and Certifications
- Preferred tertiary qualifications in Allied Health.
- Diploma or degree in Workplace Health & Safety.
- Accreditation as a Rehabilitation and Return to Work Coordinator.
- Current First Aid and CPR certification.
- Valid Driver’s Licence.
Experience and Skills
- At least 5 years’ experience in injury management and return-to-work roles.
- Strong familiarity with workers’ compensation legislation and WHS frameworks.
- Proven capability in handling complex and serious injury claims.
- Successful track record in injury prevention, rehabilitation, and early intervention.
- In-depth knowledge of relevant WHS Acts, Regulations, and Codes of Practice.
- Excellent leadership, coaching, and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution abilities.
- Analytical, composed, and solution-oriented approach, especially in high-pressure or emergency contexts.
- Self-driven with a high degree of accountability and focus on results.
