Job description

About the organisation

Beyond Bank Australia is a large member-owned mutual bank with roots in the credit union sector. It serves more than 300,000 members through over 50 branches across Australia. The organisation says its purpose is to improve lives by supporting members and communities, and it highlights its Certified B Corp status as evidence of its social and environmental commitments.

The company’s core values include Member Obsession, Empowering Communities, Shared Ambition and Championing Sustainability. It also expects employees to demonstrate behaviours such as owning outcomes, speaking up, being respectful, bringing their best, making a difference, and doing the right thing the right way.

Role overview

This permanent part-time role is for 3 days per week and follows a hybrid arrangement, with 60% of time in the office and 40% working remotely. The position comes with a pro-rata salary package in the range of 58100 to 61300. It is designed for someone who wants to develop or continue building a career in Work Health and Safety while enjoying flexibility and work-life balance.

As the Work Health and Safety Coordinator, you will support the WHS and Wellbeing Manager and help keep the organisation’s WHS and wellbeing activities running effectively. The role focuses on practical coordination, incident and hazard follow-up, reporting, records management, audit support and communication with stakeholders.

Key duties

  • Oversee hazard and incident follow-up, making sure issues are tracked, escalated and resolved in a timely manner.
  • Assist with investigations, corrective actions, and upkeep of WHS registers and records.
  • Help prepare, review and communicate WHS policies and procedures.
  • Manage the WHS email inbox, sort enquiries, and monitor actions through to closure.
  • Track audit outcomes and action plans, and ensure reporting and supporting evidence are accurate and complete.
  • Arrange WHS meetings and handle scheduling, agendas, minutes and action tracking.

What you’ll bring

The role suits someone with WHS coordination experience, or with strong administrative or support experience who is keen to build a career in Work Health and Safety. You should be comfortable working with systems, processes and records, and be able to manage competing priorities with care and accuracy.

Success in this role will also depend on your ability to communicate clearly, work proactively, follow up actions without prompting, and handle sensitive information discreetly. Experience with Protecht, audit support or evidence collation would be an advantage, but it is not required.

Team and culture

You will join the People & Culture team, which works with internal and external partners to attract, retain, develop and engage employees, helping deliver value for customers and supporting the organisation’s wider purpose.

Benefits and perks

  • Flexible working arrangements.
  • Three additional paid days for work-life balance.
  • Paid volunteer leave to support community organisations across Australia.
  • Employee discounts, wellbeing initiatives, and support services for employees and their families.
  • A flexible and diverse workplace.
  • Training, coaching and career development opportunities.

Recruitment process and checks

The hiring process may involve a phone screening, video screening, a virtual or in-person interview, psychometric testing, and all relevant background checks. Some roles may also include 4 weeks of mandatory full training.

Pre-employment screening may include APRA, ASIC, bankruptcy, National Criminal History Check, VEVO, adverse media and reference checks, with the cost covered by Beyond Bank Australia.

Accessibility and inclusion

Beyond Bank welcomes applicants from diverse communities, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, people living with disability, LGBTQIA+ people, and culturally diverse candidates. The organisation also says it is committed to an accessible recruitment and employment experience and invites candidates who need adjustments to get in touch for support.
