Job description
Role Overview
The Witness Assistance Officer position is dedicated to offering crucial support and guidance to witnesses, victims of crimes, and their families as they navigate through the criminal justice process. This role is based within the Director of Public Prosecutions at the Attorney-General's Department in Darwin.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide ongoing support and assistance to witnesses and victims of crimes.
- Serve as a liaison between witnesses, victims, their families, and the criminal justice system.
- Ensure that clients understand the processes and what to expect at each stage.
- Facilitate communication and coordination with relevant justice agencies.
- Offer empathetic and confidential assistance throughout legal proceedings.
Requirements and Eligibility
- Experience commensurate with Administrative Officer Level 5.
- Strong understanding of the criminal justice system and related administrative procedures.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with diverse clientele.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion.
Compensation and Vacancy
- Remuneration package ranges between $107,576 and $112,834 annually, which includes the base salary range of $90,946 to $95,468.
