Role Overview
The WFSM Technician Sub-AMP serves as a subject matter expert, providing guidance to AMP Managers and the operations and engineering teams under the Air Force Contract Augmentation Program at Al Udeid Air Base, Qatar. This role oversees lifecycle management of all Air Force-owned industrial and domestic wastewater infrastructure including manholes, lift stations, stormwater systems, treatment plants, and related facilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Advise AMP Managers and operational units regarding investment strategies for managed systems.
- Deliver technical expertise on potable/non-potable water, wastewater, stormwater, and interior utility systems.
- Collaborate with Land Sub-AMP to coordinate watershed-based stormwater planning and structural impacts.
- Manage asset lifecycle for all potable water, fire emergency, and wastewater systems up to five feet from structures.
- Support development of future year defense infrastructure plans spanning four years.
- Assist in pre-design and planning for new builds, renovations, and upgrades of real property facilities.
- Adapt and interpret design calculations, layouts, and specifications to align with project goals and standards.
- Conduct specialized construction inspections and quality assurance beyond typical managerial scope.
- Contribute to cost estimating and scheduling for projects.
- Create technical documents and final construction drawings for contractor bidding processes.
- Maintain compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations, fostering a safe workplace.
- Serve as Alternate BUILDER Point of Contact, managing the BUILDER database for optimal data accuracy and access.
- Ensure synchronization of facility inventory data between BUILDER and official Air Force property systems.
Minimum Qualifications
- Equivalent of Air Force 5-level technician status plus at least 5 years’ experience with building plumbing, fire protection, water treatment, and fuel distribution/control systems.
- Completion of required AFIT courses: Scoping & Estimating, SMS Builder Level 2, and Activity Management within first available sessions post-hire.
- Preferred experience with R&O and NexGen systems.
- High school diploma or equivalent and experience related to project documentation, contracting, and construction processes.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD 2025 or newer to develop accurate facility and infrastructure plans.
- Competence with Microsoft Office Suite and Project software.
- Strong English communication skills (verbal and written).
- Ability to collaborate effectively within diverse, dynamic teams.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and good judgment.
- U.S. citizenship and capability to obtain/maintain Secret security clearance (Secret clearance requires citizenship).
- Current valid driver's license or international equivalent and U.S. passport possession.
- Preference for candidates with prior overseas government contracting exposure.
