About the Role

JKH Ltd is looking to hire a skilled Welder/Fabricator for their operations in Mildenhall, England. The successful candidate will work on a diverse range of standard and custom manufacturing projects. This permanent, full-time position requires the employee to work onsite with regular hours from 7 am to 4 pm, Monday to Friday.

Job Responsibilities

  • Interpret and utilize technical drawings and cutting lists to accurately cut and fabricate steel in accordance with BSEN1090 standards.
  • Set up and operate MIG welders to perform various welds depending on materials and design specifications.
  • Assist in preparing products for galvanizing processes.
  • Occasionally support fitting handrails and gratings on cast products.
  • Collaborate effectively with all team members and stakeholders to enhance productivity, product development, and overall quality.
  • Perform initial quality inspections on finished products and communicate any defects or concerns to supervisors and quality teams.
  • Report any issues with drawings or cutting lists that could cause production delays to team leaders or supervisors.
  • Manage stock levels within the department, notifying supervisors when resupply is necessary.

Candidate Requirements

  • Possess a Level 2 City & Guilds qualification in Metal Inert Gas (MIG) Welding or an equivalent certification preferred.
  • Alternatively, candidates with at least three years of practical welding experience who are willing to pursue a relevant qualification, supported fully by the company after a successful probation, will be considered.
  • Experience within production or manufacturing environments focused on delivering high-quality products; prior work with concrete products is advantageous.
  • Proficient in reading and working from technical drawings and cutting lists.
  • Skilled in fabricating steelwork to BSEN1090 standards.
  • Experienced in using various metalworking tools and equipment.
  • Strong communication skills, sharp attention to detail, and ability to follow instructions carefully.
  • A proactive approach to continuous improvement and a motivated, positive attitude contributing to business growth.

Work Conditions and Benefits

  • Salary ranges between £15.69 and £17.49 per hour, determined by skill and experience.
  • Opportunity for overtime paid at 1.5 times the hourly rate depending on business needs.
  • Annual leave starts at 22 days plus bank holidays, including seven days for Christmas shutdown, increasing to 26 days with length of service.
  • Additional benefits include a Health Cash Plan, Death in Service coverage, and a production bonus awarded upon completion of the probation period.
  • Standard working hours total 40 per week (7 am to 4 pm) from Monday to Friday.
