Job description

Role overview

The Welcome Center Clerk II supports yard flow by managing trailer and container check-ins and check-outs, handling shipping and receiving documents, and maintaining access control for the site yard.

Work schedule

This is a day-shift position, running Monday to Friday from 6:45 am to 2:45 pm. The schedule is listed as Lundi - Vendredi - 1re équipe (jour).

Compensation

Pay is CAD 17.95 to CAD 25.64 per hour. The posting also notes a rate of $23.95/hour after 90 days, with $25.64 mentioned as the higher rate.

Key responsibilities

  • Check inbound and outbound trailers and containers, and record entries and exits from the yard.
  • Manage Bills of Lading and trailer/container inspection records, while dealing with drivers in a polite, respectful, and professional manner.
  • Process trailer and container movements in the Warehouse Management System and coordinate with clerical and workflow teams.
  • Respond to calls from internal teams and external customers, and keep access logs and driver records up to date.
  • Carry out yard audits by comparing live yard conditions with WMS data, while triaging a large volume of emails at the start of shift and throughout the day.
  • Apply site safety rules such as PPE, pedestrian movement controls, speed limits, and other local policies, and escalate safety or security concerns quickly.
  • Use limited experience and judgment to organize and complete assigned tasks.
  • Support colleagues in other departments with more complex work when needed.
  • Work under general supervision and take on additional tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or an equivalent credential is required.
  • One to two years of experience in logistics is preferred.
  • Strong accuracy and organizational ability are needed.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills are essential.
  • A customer-focused approach is important.
  • Ability to work well as part of a team is expected.

Physical and cognitive requirements

  • Ability to follow company policies and procedures.
  • Ability to read, write, and interpret information.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide.
  • Ability to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects.
  • Ability to sit, walk, or stand for the full shift.
  • Must have visual acuity to perform essential duties.
  • Ability to carry out physical tasks with a full range of motion across the warehouse environment.
  • Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.

Additional information

If the employee lives in Quebec, functional French in both written and spoken form is required.
