Role overview
City of Wagga Wagga is looking for an experienced, proactive professional to join the Water Reclamation team and support the operation of sewage treatment plants across Wagga Wagga.

- This is a permanent full-time role.
- The standard working pattern is 38 hours each week.
- Employees can access Council's nine-day fortnight arrangement.
- The position comes with ongoing training and development.

Pay and conditions
- Starting remuneration is $2,793.68 gross per fortnight.
- Progression is available up to $3,352.42 gross per fortnight.
- Superannuation is paid at 12%.
- The pay rate will rise from 1 July 2026 in line with the Local Government (State) Award.
Key duties
In this position, you will work alongside the Senior Water Reclamation Operator to maintain reliable day-to-day operations and high standards across Council's sewage treatment assets, including effluent reuse, biosolids handling, related infrastructure, and associated services.
- Run and look after Council's sewage treatment plants.
- Assist the Senior Water Reclamation Operator with prompt interventions, operational adjustments, and continuous improvement work to reduce environmental risk and avoid licence non-compliance.
- Carry out sample collection and analysis to help optimise plant performance.
- Take part in on-call rosters and respond to after-hours callouts when required.
- Prepare and maintain job-related records and documentation.
Skills and experience required
- Relevant qualifications for wastewater operations, such as Certificate III in Water Industry Operations (Wastewater Treatment), and/or Certificate of Completion - Advanced Wastewater Treatment Operations (NSW DCCEEW), or a willingness to complete these after starting.
- Strong practical experience in sewage treatment plant operations.
- Current General Construction Induction Training Card (White Card).
- Ability to supervise contractors and trainees is highly desirable.
- Confined spaces certification is desirable.
- Working at heights certification is desirable.
- First aid qualifications are desirable.
Health and compliance requirements
Under workplace health and safety obligations, the selected candidate must be vaccinated against Q-Fever, Hepatitis A, and Hepatitis B and provide proof of vaccination.
