Job description
Overview
The City of North Bay is seeking a Water Meter Clerk for a temporary indefinite position within the Finance – Corporate Services department. This role serves as the main point of contact for customer enquiries and complaints related to water meter readings and consumption. The position involves managing water billing processes, including adjustments, corrections, and charges related to Public Works. The clerk also performs daily analysis and troubleshooting of irregularities in the Fixed Area Network (N_Sight) water meter reading data to ensure accuracy, as well as preparing and posting journal entries for water and sewer account adjustments.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary customer service contact for water meter and consumption inquiries and complaints.
- Manage billing activities such as adjustments, corrections, and Public Works charges related to water accounts.
- Conduct daily analysis and troubleshoot Risk Assessment Reports from the N_Sight water meter data for inconsistencies and reading accuracy.
- Prepare and post journal entries for adjustments on water and sewer billing accounts.
Qualifications and Skills
- Completion of Grade 12 education.
- Minimum of three years’ experience in administration, analysis, and customer service areas.
- Proven excellence in delivering customer service and effective communication with the public.
- Working knowledge of computerized billing and customer service systems.
- Competency in computer software applications such as Excel and Word, including proficient keyboarding skills.
- Ability to conduct system integrations and troubleshoot issues effectively.
- Understanding of water billing and tax billing systems.
- Ability to independently perform daily job functions with minimal supervision.
- Strong analytical capabilities.
Work Details
- Working hours are from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, totaling 37.5 hours per week.
- Position is unionized.
