Where you'll work
Job description
About the organisation
Water Corporation plays a vital role in serving the people of Western Australia. Its work supports daily life for millions of residents by delivering and managing water services across the state.
If you want your work to have real community impact, this opportunity may be a strong fit.
Role overview
As a Water Industry Operator, you will spend much of your time outdoors maintaining and repairing water and wastewater assets. Your work will help keep water moving through one of WA’s largest pipeline networks, which spans 56,800 km.
The role focuses on keeping the water supply operating reliably. You will locate and repair issues in pipes and joints, support upgrades, and build a practical understanding of the full water cycle and the role water networks play in communities.
Typical duties may include trench digging, pipeline inspections, and fixing damaged water services. Over time, you will also develop capabilities that can support future technical or leadership career paths.
Training and experience
No previous water industry experience is needed. Full on-the-job training is provided, along with support from an experienced colleague so you can settle in confidently from your first day.
Safety and licence requirements
A strong safety mindset is essential, as safe work practices are a core priority in this role and throughout the organisation. Because driving is part of the job, a current WA C class driver’s licence is required. An HR licence would be an advantage.
How to apply
Applicants should submit both a cover letter and a resume that clearly show their relevant skills, experience, and ability to meet the role requirements.
Pre-employment screening may be part of the selection process and could include a medical assessment, qualification verification, police clearance, and a check of Australian working rights.
Application deadline
Applications close on 12 July 2026.
Inclusion and accessibility
The organisation is committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace. Applications are encouraged from people of all backgrounds, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, people with disability, women, young people, LGBTQIA+ individuals, and people from culturally and linguistically diverse communities.
An accessible and inclusive work environment is supported so that people with disability can take part fully in employment. Candidates needing adjustments during recruitment, including an alternative application format, can contact a Recruitment Officer at recruitment@watercorporation.com.au or 08 9420 2000.
Benefits
- Flexible working options, including work-from-home arrangements, a 9-day fortnight, and flexible work hours.
- Two paid well-being days each year.
- Pro rata access to long service leave after 3 years of service.
- A superannuation co-contribution arrangement with 12% employer contribution plus an extra 2% employer co-contribution when 2% salary sacrifice is elected.
- The option to purchase up to 12 weeks of additional leave, or work four years at a reduced salary and take the fifth year as paid leave.
- Up to 5 days of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural and ceremonial leave.
