Job description

Role overview

Water Corporation is seeking a permanent Building Services Officer to join the Building Services team within the Development Services Business Unit. Based at the Leederville office, this position reports to the Team Leader – Process and Support Team and plays a key part in handling building and service connection work across a busy development environment.

The role suits someone who enjoys solving technical problems, supporting customers, and working with a range of stakeholders to keep service connection processes moving smoothly. It sits within a workplace that values balance, diversity, and a positive team culture.

What you will do

You will manage complex applications linked to building, water, and sewer connections, while also providing technical guidance to customers, colleagues, and other stakeholders. The role involves balancing competing priorities, maintaining accuracy, and ensuring matters are handled professionally.

Key duties

  • Assess and process a range of detailed building, water, and sewer connection applications.
  • Answer questions about Corporation policies and technical development requirements, and refer difficult or disputed issues when needed.
  • Support and guide other team members through mentoring and knowledge sharing.
  • Work with customers and stakeholders from different backgrounds and needs.
  • Partner with colleagues to help deliver the building services workflow effectively.

What we are looking for

We are looking for someone with substantial experience in a technically oriented customer service setting, backed by strong communication skills and the ability to adapt information for different audiences. You should be highly focused on results, comfortable managing multiple priorities, and capable of meeting tight deadlines without losing attention to detail.

You will also bring a solid understanding of the processes and regulatory obligations connected to water-related infrastructure for the building and development sector. A collaborative approach, a practical mindset, and the ability to contribute to team-based problem solving are essential.

Benefits and workplace support

  • Flexible working arrangements, including the option to work from home or negotiate flexible hours.
  • An additional two wellbeing days each year.
  • Pro rata long service leave available after three years of service.
  • A generous superannuation arrangement with contributions of up to 16%, made up of a 12% standard employer contribution plus an extra 2% employer co-contribution matched by a 2% employee contribution.
  • The option to buy up to 12 weeks of additional leave, or work four years on a reduced salary and take the fifth year as paid leave.

Recruitment and compliance

Applicants are asked to provide a covering letter and resume that clearly show relevant skills, experience, and suitability for the role. As part of the hiring process, you may be asked to complete pre-employment checks, which can include a medical assessment, qualification verification, police clearance, and confirmation of Australian working rights.

Diversity and inclusion

Water Corporation is committed to building an inclusive workplace that reflects the community it serves. Applications are welcomed from people of all backgrounds, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, people with disability, women, young people, LGBTQIA+ people, and people from culturally and linguistically diverse communities.

The organisation also aims to provide an accessible and inclusive environment for employees with disability. If adjustments or alternative communication methods are needed during recruitment, applicants can contact a Recruitment Officer via recruitment@watercorporation.com.au or 08 9420 2000.
