Role overview
Veolia is seeking an experienced Water and Wastewater Infrastructure Operator to support the infrastructure network operations team in Queenstown, Otago. The role focuses on keeping network assets and infrastructure running efficiently while helping deliver safe drinking water and reliable wastewater collection and transport.

Key duties
- Carry out planned, routine, and breakdown maintenance across reticulation infrastructure and related network assets
- Spot issues promptly and escalate them within appropriate timeframes
- Perform assigned infrastructure operations tasks
- Diagnose faults and complete repairs on assets and infrastructure
- Operate excavators, small trucks, and other small plant equipment for repair work
- Work collaboratively with internal employees, subcontractors, and temporary labour
- Share knowledge and practical skills with others on the team
- Take part in the on-call duty operator roster
- Follow health and safety, quality assurance, and environmental management requirements in daily work
- Comply with occupational health and safety and environmental policy obligations, including attending toolbox talks and health and safety meetings
- Adhere to the business management system and quality requirements for drinking water, wastewater treatment, and disposal
- Complete any required regulatory and job-specific training
What you need
- A combination of education, training, and industry experience
- Comfort using computers
- Hands-on experience with water mains ranging from 25mm to 550mm
- Experience with wastewater infrastructure ranging from 100mm to 550mm
- Exposure to the water or wastewater infrastructure sector
- Basic understanding of civil construction and heavy equipment use
- Proven ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues and contractors
- Strong problem-solving ability and practical approach to methods and solutions
- Relevant industry skills
- Physical fitness for the demands of the role
- Strong literacy, numeracy, computing, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to develop and sustain positive relationships with clients and contractors
- Motivation, enthusiasm, attention to detail, and a strong customer service focus
