Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator Helper

Overview

The Utilities Board of the City of Andalusia is looking to fill the position of Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator Helper within the Wastewater Department. The role involves assisting with routine maintenance and operation of the wastewater treatment facility under general supervision.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform daily upkeep and maintenance tasks at the wastewater treatment plant.
• Clean and wash static screen separators to ensure efficient operation.
• Remove sludge from drying beds as part of plant maintenance.
• Flush down boat clarifiers on a daily schedule to support treatment processes.
• Carry out semiskilled work with some degree of autonomy under the supervision of senior operators.

Qualifications and Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent qualification.
• Possession of a valid driver's license issued by the Alabama Department of Public Safety.
• Potential requirement to obtain a Commercial Driver's License (Class B).
• Availability to work more than 40 hours per week when necessary.
• Some prior experience in related operational or maintenance tasks preferred.
