About the Role
Hume City Council, among Australia's rapidly expanding and culturally varied councils, is seeking dedicated Waste and Litter Collection Officers to join their Waste and Sustainability team. This permanent full-time position, located in Coolaroo, Victoria, offers a salary of $71,490.64 per annum plus superannuation. The Council prioritizes customer and community focus, delivering efficient and accessible services.
Key Responsibilities
- Promptly respond to illegal dumping reports within assigned zones.
- Evaluate dumped waste for evidence, document findings accurately, and refer cases for investigation when needed.
- Safely remove small amounts of dumped waste efficiently.
- Manually handle the loading and unloading of vehicles while adhering to proper manual handling techniques.
- Transport waste following EPA regulations and safety protocols.
- Record service requests, actions, photographic evidence, and outcomes accurately in the Council's CRM system.
- Utilize systems such as IntraMaps, WasteEdge, and other relevant platforms to manage and complete assigned tasks.
- Comply with all workplace health and safety guidelines and procedures.
- Apply correct hygiene and safe handling practices when managing hazardous materials.
Qualifications and Skills
- Practical knowledge of municipal amenity services and their operations.
- Familiarity with legislation and regulations relevant to the service area.
- Skilled in effectively communicating verbally with diverse populations from various cultural backgrounds.
- Prior experience in waste services, compliance, or roles involving public field interaction.
- Experience with CRM systems, mapping software, or incident management platforms is a plus.
- Understanding of EPA requirements for waste transport and safety preferred.
- Strong written and oral communication abilities.
