Job description
Role overview
This leadership role is responsible for shaping and steering Quantinuum’s enterprise strategy. The position turns advanced quantum innovation into a practical multi-year plan with clear priorities, measurable outcomes, and disciplined execution across hardware, software, services, commercial, sales, and marketing teams. The aim is to convert long-term ambition into concrete business results, thoughtful capital and capacity allocation, and lasting market leadership.
Core responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end STRAP process and build a multi-year corporate strategy with explicit choices, integrated priorities, and outcome-driven plans spanning hardware, software, services, and commercial/business functions.
- Set up and run a closed-loop strategy execution system that converts strategy into initiatives, KPIs/OKRs, and governance rhythms that support accountability, delivery, and course correction across the organization.
- Own the annual and multi-year business planning cycle so that plans, targets, and operating commitments stay aligned with strategic priorities across technical, commercial, and business teams.
- Develop vertical strategies that define where the company should focus, how it will compete, and which use cases should be prioritized, while shaping strategic narratives for product, commercial, and business execution.
- Work with technical leadership and the VP Corporate Development to define platform and value-chain strategy, including what the company should own, where it should partner, what it should avoid, and how value will be monetized.
- Ensure strategy is integrated across hardware, software, applications, commercial, and business functions, with strong enterprise-level trade-off decisions and execution discipline.
- Own the enterprise portfolio and resource allocation approach, prioritizing investments and capacity across functions to maximize strategic value.
- Direct the strategic intelligence agenda by delivering ongoing insight on customers, competitors, and market shifts to inform enterprise decisions.
- Define, prioritize, and govern strategic initiatives while ensuring each has clear ownership, funding, and delivery accountability across teams.
- Lead strategy engagement with the Executive Team and Board of Directors by preparing strong strategic narratives, decision materials, and recommendations.
- Translate strategy into clear internal messaging in partnership with internal communications and marketing so the whole organization understands and aligns around priorities.
Requirements
- At least 10 years of enterprise strategy leadership experience in a deep-tech, R&D-driven environment such as quantum, AI, semiconductors, or advanced computing.
- Demonstrated responsibility for long-term corporate strategy and for influencing executive and board-level decisions.
- Strong ability to turn complex technical, market, and operational information into concise, compelling executive and board-ready narratives.
- Proven success aligning senior leaders across hardware, software, commercial, and business teams without relying on direct authority.
- Exposure to quantum computing, high-performance computing, or similar frontier technologies is highly valued.
- Background in strategy roles at high-growth technology companies and/or leading consulting firms is preferred.
- Solid understanding of commercial models and operating models for emerging technologies.
- Experience with strategic planning, scenario analysis, and portfolio prioritization in uncertain environments.
- Comfort working with long time horizons, evolving technologies, and ambiguous market conditions.
- Ability to influence, challenge, and build credibility with senior technical and commercial stakeholders.
Perks and benefits
- Competitive compensation with innovative, high-impact work.
- Flexible working schedule.
- Employer-subsidized health, dental, and vision insurance.
- 401(k) match for student loan repayment benefit.
- Equity, a 401(k) retirement savings plan, 12 paid holidays, and generous vacation plus sick leave.
- Paid parental leave.
