Job description

Role overview

This position acts as the central point of contact between the Japan hotel leadership team, the ownership group, and the corporate office. The focus is on keeping everyone aligned on strategy, performance, and execution while supporting stronger profitability and protecting long-term asset value.

The role is based in Singapore and will require travel to Japan when needed. Strong bilingual communication in English and Japanese is preferred.

Core responsibilities

  • Serve as the main coordination point between hotel general managers/operations leaders in Japan, ownership stakeholders, and the corporate office.
  • Track hotel results and evaluate performance using financial and operational KPIs such as revenue, GOP, NOI, EBITDA where relevant, flow-through, and labor productivity.
  • Work with operations and revenue management teams to spot performance shortfalls, build corrective action plans, and follow through until actions are completed.
  • Oversee property management deliverables including operating plans, annual budgets, forecasts, owner reporting materials, and monthly performance reviews.
  • Assess key commercial drivers such as pricing strategy, distribution costs, mix, and contract terms together with the revenue management function.
  • Contribute to capital planning and asset value improvement work, including CapEx prioritization, ROI tracking, maintenance planning, and refurbishment business cases.
  • Maintain strong governance and clear documentation across ownership structures and stakeholder groups, coordinating inputs between Japan-based and corporate teams.
  • Assist with due diligence work, acquisition and investment analysis, and other special projects as required.
  • Help standardize reporting, templates, and operating cadence across the Japan portfolio.

Qualifications and experience

  • At least 8 years of relevant experience in hospitality asset management, hotel finance, portfolio performance management, or owner/operator settings.
  • Prior exposure to owned and operated hotel assets is strongly preferred over experience limited to third-party oversight.
  • Experience working with Japan ownership or vehicle structures such as TMK/TK is highly desirable.
  • Strong financial understanding, including P&L management, budgeting and forecasting, cash flow awareness, and KPI analysis.
  • Ability to collaborate across operations, revenue, finance, and ownership teams.
  • Business-level Japanese, ideally JLPT N2 or above, is preferred.

Key strengths for success

  • Strong ownership mentality with a high sense of accountability and comfort working through details to drive results.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to turn data into practical recommendations and next steps.
  • Confident stakeholder management across cultures, with clear communication in both English and Japanese.
  • Hands-on problem-solving approach that balances immediate performance needs with long-term asset value.
