Volunteer Visitor and Shopping Assistant at Ashwood Park

Role Overview

We invite warm and friendly individuals to volunteer as visitors to the residents of Ashwood Park in Blenheim, Marlborough. Volunteers engage in small group interactions or provide assistance with shopping errands. Activities include spending quality time having tea and conversations, listening to residents' stories, taking walks, participating in crafts or puzzles, sharing skills, and accompanying residents on brief shopping trips to Countdown nearby.

Focus and Special Requests

Currently, there is a particular emphasis on supporting male residents through activities like playing pool, card games, going for walks, or simply sharing enjoyable conversations.

Volunteer Requirements

This role does not demand any special technical skills; however, effective communication, attentive listening, patience, and a gentle demeanor are essential. Volunteers with craft or other special skills that might be shared with residents will be greatly valued. A police background check is mandatory for participation.

Time Commitment

The schedule is flexible to accommodate volunteer availability.
