About the Role

Volunteer Marlborough is seeking dedicated volunteers to join their team as Unit Leaders for GirlGuiding New Zealand in Blenheim. This is a part-time, onsite volunteer position where you will engage with youth and support girls and young women in reaching their potential within a well-established organization that offers opportunities for growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and support groups of girls during weekly in-person sessions lasting up to two hours during the school term.
  • Assist in planning and delivering term-long activities tailored to girls' development.
  • Participate in occasional evening or weekend training and planning meetings.
  • Accompany girls on trips, camps, and special events when required.

Volunteer Requirements

  • Must be older than 18 years to meet child safety policies.
  • Police background check is mandatory.
  • A passion for inspiring and empowering girls and young women.
  • Possess patience, assertiveness, and the ability to be an encouraging, hands-on leader.
  • Previous youth work experience is beneficial but not required.
  • Commit to volunteering for a minimum of six months.

Commitment and Schedule

  • Attend weekly sessions during school terms:
  • Blenheim Guides: Thursdays, 6-8 pm
  • Blenheim Brownies: Thursdays, 4-5:30 pm
  • Blenheim Pippins: Tuesdays, 4-5 pm
  • Additional time may be needed for weekend events or camps.

Support and Training

Volunteers will receive free leadership training, mentoring, and uniforms at no personal cost. This role offers an opportunity to become part of a global network of GirlGuiding members.
