About the Role
We are seeking a Vice President Works - Plant Head to lead the entire manufacturing operations of our Ceramic Division plant located in Bibinagar, India. The role involves ownership of production, quality assurance, maintenance, utilities management, safety adherence, cost efficiency, industrial relations, and driving operational excellence within a continuous and semi-continuous production environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Enhance overall plant productivity, performance, quality standards, and timely delivery.
- Oversee continuous process operations, focused on kilns, furnaces, and energy-intensive manufacturing equipment.
- Effectively manage a unionized workforce while fostering harmonious industrial relations.
- Champion initiatives such as Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), Lean Manufacturing, Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) improvements, and cost reduction strategies.
- Ensure strict compliance with safety, quality, and statutory regulations.
- Lead cross-functional areas including manufacturing, maintenance, engineering, utilities, supply chain, and Environment, Health & Safety (EHS).
- Promote a high-performance organizational culture and cultivate leadership development within teams.
- Collaborate closely with the Chief Operating Officer (COO) and senior management on strategic projects and capacity expansion.
Industry Background
Preferred candidates will have experience within ceramics, sanitaryware, tiles, glass, refractories, steel, foundries, aluminium, paper & pulp, specialty chemicals, or similar continuous process industries. Candidates from consumer appliances, purely cement, pharmaceuticals, automotive assembly, FMCG packaging, textiles, and unrelated sectors are not preferred.
Mandatory Qualifications and Experience
- Over 20 years of manufacturing experience, including a minimum of 5 years in a Plant Head role.
- Practical experience in kiln/furnace-based or continuous process manufacturing environments.
- Proven management of large unionized labor forces and industrial relations.
- Strong expertise in operations management, maintenance, quality control, safety protocols, and cost management.
- Demonstrated success in leading operational excellence and business transformation efforts.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate is a seasoned manufacturing leader who has successfully managed large-scale and unionized plants. They should possess direct experience working with high-temperature processes such as furnaces and kilns in energy-heavy manufacturing settings. Leadership positions within ceramics, glass, refractories, cement, sanitaryware, steel or tiles manufacturing are strongly preferred.

The plant is based in Bibinagar, Hyderabad area, India.
