Job description
Role Overview
This is a confidential executive search for a Vice President of Supply Chain. The employer’s name and further identifying details will be shared later with candidates who are advanced in the hiring process.
The organization is a rapidly expanding logistics and distribution business operating under a 3PL model. Its work combines point-to-point pick-and-pack operations with wholesale buy-sell activity, in a structure comparable to beverage alcohol or CPG distribution. With multiple warehouse sites in California and New York, a monthly volume measured in very large unit counts, and annual wholesale transactions exceeding $1 billion, the company is already profitable and continues to grow at a strong double-digit pace. The workforce spans several hundred employees across the network.
Location and Reporting
This role is based in California or New York and requires onsite presence with regional travel. The position reports to the President and the executive leadership team.
What You Will Lead
The VP of Supply Chain will own supply chain execution and fulfillment P&L across the warehouse network. This is a hands-on build-and-scale leadership role for a seasoned logistics executive who can bring structure to a complex environment rather than rely on a pre-existing playbook from a highly standardized enterprise.
You will oversee the operational core of a business handling a broad mix of products with different packaging and handling needs, all within a tightly regulated supply chain where every unit must be accurately tracked each day. You will also lead a large, multi-site organization and serve as the top leader responsible for standardizing supply chain operations across seven locations in California and New York.
Key Accountabilities
- Own supply chain performance and the fulfillment P&L across all warehouse sites.
- Create consistency in operating methods, processes, and performance metrics across a multi-site network that currently includes seven locations across California and New York and is still expanding.
- Improve labor productivity, unit cost efficiency, and throughput across high-volume product flows that are not uniform.
- Oversee warehouse management systems and supporting infrastructure, including the transition away from current platforms as the business grows.
- Ensure full compliance with state-level tracking and regulatory obligations for every item processed.
- Develop and strengthen a multi-site leadership bench that can operate effectively at scale.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate brings deep logistics and supply chain leadership experience, especially in multi-site environments. Success in regulated logistics settings such as cosmetics, CPG, reverse fulfillment, or similar sectors is strongly preferred.
This opportunity is best suited to a builder who is comfortable establishing process, structure, and standards in a fast-moving and non-standardized environment. It is not intended for someone whose background is limited to large, highly process-driven organizations and who depends mainly on existing frameworks. The right person should be able to solve problems in ambiguity.
Strong command of operational and labor efficiency measures is essential, including cost per unit, throughput, and KPI design and monitoring. Experience with warehouse management systems is also required, along with the ability to assess and improve systems infrastructure as the network scales.
Candidates must be based in California or New York, or be willing to relocate to one of those states.
Additional Information
This is a confidential search, so the company name and further details will only be shared with qualified candidates as the process advances.
