About the Role
The San Francisco 49ers seeks an experienced Vice President of Stadium and Event Operations to oversee daily planning and execution of event operations at Levi's Stadium. This leadership position is responsible for translating the venue's strategic and safety goals into seamless on-site delivery across 49ers games, concerts, and major events, ensuring world-class fan and partner experiences.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead strategic vision and operational execution of all event activities through disciplined project management methods aligned with departmental standards.
- Manage budgets and cost forecasts for event operations using standardized projects, timelines, and tracking tools; develop and maintain departmental policies, procedures, and playbooks.
- Coordinate cross-departmentally with staff, organizational leaders, vendors, contractors, and external agencies using structured governance approaches to ensure successful event delivery.
- Provide leadership in evaluating, selecting, managing, and holding accountable contractors and staff per documented work scopes, schedules, and performance benchmarks.
- Oversee all event operations phases, including pre-event planning, live execution, and post-event review, employing phase-gated project management to drive repeatable success.
- Manage oversight of Stadium & Event Operations divisions including Logistics, Audio-Visual, Broadcast, Engineering, and Janitorial Services.
- Ensure compliance with safety codes, ADA, and league/venue security standards during event operations.
- Lead post-event debriefs, gather operational insights, and incorporate fan feedback to improve guest experience and operational efficiency continuously.
- Act as secondary liaison for local public safety entities coordinating event staffing and safety operations.
- Collaborate with Marketing, Events, and Revenue teams to align event delivery with sponsorships, branding, and revenue goals.
- Support capital improvement projects and technology upgrades through on-site management and vendor coordination.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Proven expertise in managing multiple concurrent event operations projects.
- Experienced leader managing cross-functional, unionized, and vendor personnel within live-event or 24/7 operational settings.
- Exceptional communication skills for engaging with diverse stakeholders including executives, staff, and external partners.
- Strong analytical capabilities including budget management, cost estimation, vendor negotiations, and financial reporting.
- Sound judgment and calmness under pressure, especially in urgent or public scenarios.
- In-depth knowledge of venue safety, security protocols, and emergency management best practices such as ADA compliance and crowd control.
Education and Experience
- Minimum of 12 years’ relevant professional experience or equivalent blend of education and work background.
- At least 8 to 10 years progressive responsibility in stadium, arena, or large venue operations and event management, including 3 to 5 years in leadership roles.
Physical and Work Environment
The role primarily involves office work with occasional exposure to outdoor conditions. Physical tasks include regular sitting, handling objects, talking, hearing, and occasional standing, walking, and lifting up to 25 pounds. It requires good vision and the ability to work extended hours including weekends and on-site presence is mandatory.
