Role overview
An established senior leader is needed to guide the planning and delivery of a expanding portfolio of large-scale energy, industrial, and infrastructure initiatives. The portfolio includes energy transition work, renewable energy developments, and related facilities. This position is based in Houston, Texas, with regular travel to project locations as needed, and reports to the Chief Executive Officer.
What the role covers
This executive will own project delivery across the full lifecycle, starting with development and FEED, continuing through FID, execution, commissioning, and readiness for operations. The role is central to shaping project strategy, strengthening delivery capability, managing EPC relationships, and making sure work is completed safely, efficiently, and in line with business goals.
As the company grows, this leader will also help create the systems, team structure, and leadership bench required to support future project expansion.
Key responsibilities
- Direct the full portfolio of project development and execution activities at an executive level.
- Guide projects through FEED, FID, EPC delivery, commissioning, and startup.
- Create and roll out delivery approaches that support organizational objectives.
- Ensure projects are completed safely, on time, and within approved budgets.
- Set up governance, reporting, and project controls processes.
- Lead risk mitigation, value improvement, and execution planning efforts.
- Act as the primary executive contact for EPC contractors.
- Oversee contractor selection, contract discussions, and performance tracking.
- Review and challenge engineering, procurement, and construction strategies.
- Make sure EPC partners achieve agreed milestones and outcomes.
- Resolve major project issues and manage escalation paths when needed.
- Build the project organization as work moves toward execution.
- Hire, coach, and develop senior project leaders and functional teams.
- Shape a culture centered on safety, accountability, and strong delivery.
- Develop succession plans and long-term organizational capability.
- Partner with executives, investors, lenders, and project stakeholders.
- Support financing, investment approval, and board reporting activities.
- Provide regular updates on performance, risk, and opportunity.
- Represent the company with regulators, partners, contractors, and industry groups.
- Contribute to future project evaluation, growth strategy, and capital planning.
- Identify ways to improve delivery efficiency and strengthen organizational capability.
- Build repeatable execution models that can be used across future developments.
Required background
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a closely related field.
- At least 20 years of experience in energy, petrochemical, refining, LNG, ammonia, hydrogen, or major industrial infrastructure projects.
- Proven track record leading major capital projects through FEED, FID, and execution.
- Deep experience managing EPC contractors and owner-side project teams.
- Prior leadership experience in an owner/operator environment.
- Strong capability in commercial matters, financial oversight, and stakeholder management.
- Experience handling project portfolios with capital values above $500 million.
Preferred experience
- Background in ammonia, hydrogen, or energy transition projects.
- Experience delivering projects along the Gulf Coast.
- Exposure to both development and execution phases of projects.
- Prior leadership during periods of rapid organizational growth.
- Knowledge of project finance, investment approvals, and lender engagement.
- Experience building teams from early development through operations.
