Role Overview
The Vice President of Project Management will lead enterprise project governance and shape the company’s strategic delivery function. This senior leader will own the project management framework at the enterprise level, oversee the full project portfolio, and guide execution of major initiatives. The role focuses on building consistent, efficient project management practices that help translate corporate strategy, product targets, and business priorities into timely, cost-effective outcomes with clear business impact.
Key Responsibilities
- Define the company’s project management strategy and build a long-term roadmap for the function.
- Set up and lead an enterprise PMO along with the governance structure that supports it.
- Design standardized processes, methods, and lifecycle controls for projects across the organization.
- Continuously improve project tools, workflows, and operating systems.
- Manage the end-to-end project portfolio and ensure priorities stay aligned with business strategy.
- Review and balance resource deployment and budget usage for maximum efficiency.
- Ensure project spend supports core business goals and strategic investment decisions.
- Direct large-scale initiatives such as digital transformation, system modernization, and new business launches.
- Put milestone tracking, stage reviews, and delivery checkpoints in place for major programs.
- Keep delivery on time, within budget, and aligned to quality expectations.
- Address major issues, blockers, and risks that surface during implementation.
- Coordinate execution across Product, R&D, Operations, Marketing, Finance, and other teams.
- Create clear structures for communication, decision-making, and escalation across functions.
- Improve overall organizational execution speed and cross-team alignment.
- Build KPI frameworks and performance management systems for projects.
- Track progress, cost, quality, and resource productivity across the portfolio.
- Lead post-project reviews and use lessons learned to strengthen future delivery.
- Provide regular updates on project health and business impact to the CEO or executive leadership.
- Head the PMO and develop project management capability across the team.
- Create competency models and career pipelines for project management talent.
- Encourage use of professional methods and certifications such as PMP and Agile practices.
- Foster a results-focused delivery culture with strong execution discipline.
- Set up risk identification and early-warning mechanisms for active projects.
- Manage exposure related to budgets, contracts, delivery commitments, and operations.
- Ensure project work follows company policies and relevant industry standards.
- Protect brand reputation and maintain customer confidence through controlled delivery.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree or higher in Project Management, Engineering Management, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
- Professional certifications such as PMP or PgMP are preferred.
- An MBA is considered an advantage.
- More than 20 years of experience in project management or broad operations management.
- At least 15 years spent leading large, complex projects or managing a PMO.
- Strong history of delivering cross-functional and cross-regional projects successfully.
- Background in digital transformation or enterprise project management is preferred.
- Deep capability in project governance and portfolio oversight.
- Ability to translate strategy into execution plans and drive follow-through.
- Strong analytical problem-solving and risk management skills.
- Excellent collaboration and resource-integration abilities across departments.
- Executive-level leadership and organizational management strength.
- Experience in project governance in large conglomerates or multinational organizations is preferred.
- Hands-on exposure to ERP, CRM, platform upgrade, or similar transformation projects is preferred.
- Practical knowledge of Agile project management or SAFe frameworks is preferred.
- Experience presenting major project updates to the CEO or Board of Directors is preferred.
