Job description
Role overview
This opportunity is for a senior investment professional to join an alternative asset manager in Munich, Germany, supporting the DACH private equity platform. The team is deploying a multi-billion-euro fund focused on European mid-cap opportunities. Rather than following a standard buyout approach, the strategy uses a flexible capital mandate that can include control investments, minority growth partnerships, and structured instruments designed to reduce downside risk.
The platform is built to pursue complex, off-market situations and to work closely with founders facing succession planning, strong organic growth, or consolidation through acquisitions. The role suits someone who can combine transaction execution, origination, structuring, and hands-on value creation at board level.
Key responsibilities
- Design and execute tailored investment structures that fit the needs of each transaction, bridging traditional private equity and structured capital solutions.
- Lead transactions from early commercial assessment through final documentation, including commercial, financial, and legal due diligence.
- Use and expand a proprietary network of intermediaries, advisors, and management teams to identify off-market deal opportunities across the DACH region.
- Prepare and present investment papers that bring together risk analysis, valuation work, and market perspectives for senior committee review.
- Support portfolio companies after closing through board participation, strategic M&A work, operational improvement initiatives, and exit planning.
Candidate profile
The ideal candidate brings at least 8 years of transaction experience, preferably beginning in a leading investment bank or top strategy consultancy and continuing in buy-side roles within mid-market private equity, special situations, or structured credit.
Strong exposure to the DACH mid-market ecosystem is important, along with a network that can support proprietary sourcing and relationship-led investing.
The role requires advanced capital structuring ability, including the capacity to model, value, and negotiate across the full capital stack, from senior debt to common equity.
Applicants should have strong commercial judgment, confidence in founder-led and family-owned environments, and the credibility to work with co-investors and senior executives.
The position also calls for a self-directed working style, the ability to operate in ambiguity, and a collaborative approach within a small team.
Fluency in both German and English, written and spoken, is mandatory. A strong academic background from a leading institution is expected, and the role involves frequent travel to portfolio companies and international offices.
Additional information
This position is based in Munich, Germany, and is part of a cross-border investment platform with a strong institutional focus. The mandate is entrepreneurial and full-cycle, with responsibility extending from sourcing through post-investment governance.
