Role Overview
Reporting directly to the CEO, the Vice President of Operations oversees all aspects of operational excellence supporting the retail business, including Market and Retail Operations Departments. This strategic leadership role spearheads organizational transformation, ensures alignment with business growth objectives, and supervises customer lifecycle management through people, processes, and systems that support competitive pricing and profitability.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage critical functions such as sales support, enrollments, billing, collections, contract enforcement, and customer care.
- Oversee broker commissions and reporting post-contract signing.
- Own ECI system performance improvements and operations.
- Lead pricing, structuring of retail contracts, including curve management and product design.
- Ensure accurate reconciliation of energy and non-energy components to maintain cost coverage.
- Forecast and schedule customer load, reconcile settlements, and reduce imbalance risks.
- Handle HU processing, pricing, and collaboration with sales on complex deals.
- Analyze market, product, and broker feedback to maintain price competitiveness and profitability tracking.
- Manage regulatory changes and filings related to retail operations at utility, state, and FERC levels.
- Direct HUMS & SCOPE system performance and enhancements.
- Implement efficient systems, controls, processes, and reporting to promote industry-leading customer care and operational excellence.
- Develop performance metrics and manage organizational structure to reduce costs and support growth.
- Cultivate vendor relationships critical for current operations and future business expansion.
- Provide leadership by coaching and mentoring staff to develop future leaders and maintain team focus aligned with goals.
- Act as a trusted advisor to senior management and represent the company externally to customers, brokers, and industry stakeholders.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Between 5 to 10 years of management experience within the energy sector, preferably spanning Market Operations and Retail Operations.
- Proven leadership in fast-growing companies with a track record of driving transformational change to completion.
- Expertise in workflow optimization and stakeholder management at senior executive levels.
- Strong operational discipline and rigor in daily business management.
- Experience in global electricity trading environments is a significant advantage.
- Exceptional leadership skills capable of inspiring teams with a clear vision.
- Excellent influencing, stakeholder engagement, and interpersonal communication abilities.
- In-depth knowledge of the electricity industry and market dynamics.
- Demonstrated ability in budget planning and business acumen tied to domain-specific expertise.
- Strong critical thinking, resilience, and organizational skills.
- Effective communicator capable of delivering complex information to senior leaders and external partners.
- Demonstrates integrity, empowerment, and conscientiousness in managing resources and leading teams.
