Vice President of Technology

Role overview

We are seeking a senior technology executive to help expand and scale a financial technology platform as the business grows across new markets, products, partners, and regions. The right person will be comfortable shaping long-term direction while also stepping in on the ground when needed, with a strong focus on creating durable systems, accountable teams, and engineering practices that are not dependent on one individual.

Key responsibilities

• Set and oversee the technology direction, system architecture, engineering execution, and day-to-day platform operations.
• Maintain strong platform reliability through high availability, resilience, observability, and readiness for incidents across mission-critical systems.
• Contribute to the organization’s cybersecurity framework across SIEM, SOC, DLP, EDR/XDR, vulnerability management, penetration testing, threat modelling, monitoring, incident response, and security awareness.
• Drive the real-world implementation of agentic AI within engineering workflows and broader technology operations.
• Improve security controls, compliance posture, audit preparedness, access governance, data protection, and secure SDLC practices.
• Develop and strengthen NOC and SOC capabilities, covering monitoring, alerting, incident handling, escalation paths, and post-incident reviews.
• Support platform and team scaling for geographic expansion, including readiness for multiple markets, localisation requirements, regulatory expectations, and infrastructure growth.
• Oversee technical partnerships with third-party providers for core services such as issuing processors, payment partners, banking partners, cloud vendors, security vendors, and integration platforms.
• Enhance ownership structures, documentation quality, runbooks, SLAs, and operational accountability.
• Work closely with Product, Finance, Operations, Risk, Compliance, and senior leadership.
• Lower dependence on key individuals and help establish a dependable leadership layer across engineering and operations.

Qualifications and experience

This role calls for more than 10 years of senior technology leadership experience in positions such as VP Engineering/Technology, Head of Engineering/Technology, or equivalent. Experience in fintech is essential, especially in issuing, acquiring, or banking. Candidates should have a strong history of scaling secure, reliable, and compliant production environments, along with evidence of successful agentic AI adoption that improved productivity. Prior experience building engineering teams, technical operations, NOC/SOC processes, and disciplined delivery practices is important. Familiarity with implementing or supporting ISO27001, SAMA, SOC2, and PCI DSS requirements is required. A solid grasp of cloud infrastructure, backend systems, APIs, data platforms, observability, disaster recovery, and incident management is needed, as well as experience working with external vendors providing critical services. The position also requires the ability to move comfortably between strategy, architecture, execution, people leadership, and executive communication.
