Job overview

The Vice President of Technology Project Management is a senior executive responsible for driving the planning and delivery of major technology initiatives. This role oversees complex programs such as platform development, system integrations, digital transformation efforts, and infrastructure build-outs, ensuring the company’s technology direction is executed in a structured and manageable way.

Key responsibilities

The role is accountable for building and improving the organization’s technology project management capability, leading strategic programs, and coordinating execution across multiple teams.

  • Define and roll out company-wide methods for technology project and program delivery, including approaches such as Agile, Scrum, SAFe, and Waterfall.
  • Standardize and improve processes, working practices, tools, and delivery standards across technology projects.
  • Raise the organization’s overall maturity, consistency, and predictability in technology delivery.
  • Prioritize the technology portfolio and allocate resources to the most important initiatives.
  • Coordinate several critical technology projects or large-scale programs at the same time.
  • Make sure each program supports the company’s technology strategy and wider business goals.
  • Directly oversee, or provide executive supervision to, highly complex and high-impact technology projects.
  • Control project scope, schedule, quality, and cost while ensuring major milestones and deliverables are completed on time.
  • Bring together engineering, architecture, product, testing, operations, and security stakeholders to keep execution aligned.
  • Manage cross-functional dependencies and create effective communication channels between teams and departments.
  • Improve how technical resources are assigned and used to increase team effectiveness.
  • Build a structured process for identifying project risks and issuing early warnings.
  • Lead escalation handling and support executive decision-making for major issues.
  • Protect system stability, security, and compliance throughout project execution.
  • Partner with business teams and product groups to translate requirements into delivery plans.
  • Ensure technology execution is aligned with customer needs and business outcomes.
  • Maximize the business value created by technology programs.
  • Set up data tracking and reporting for delivery performance, cycle time, quality, and similar indicators.
  • Continuously improve development efficiency, including DORA metrics and DevOps capabilities.
  • Drive engineering productivity and broader process improvements.
  • Lead the Technology Project Manager team and develop management capability across the function.
  • Create a talent pipeline and career growth framework for technical project management.
  • Encourage an agile mindset and strengthen engineering leadership skills across the organization.

Qualifications

Candidates should bring deep experience in technology project leadership, large-scale program management, and cross-functional delivery in complex technical environments.

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
  • MBA or project management certifications such as PMP, PgMP, or SAFe are considered an advantage.
  • At least 18 years of experience in technology project management or software development.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience managing large programs or project portfolios.
  • Background in internet, cloud, enterprise systems, or digital transformation initiatives is preferred.
