Overview
The Vice President of Quality Management & Improvement leads and directs all quality management initiatives across Wyandot BHN and its affiliated organizations. This leadership role oversees data collection, reporting, and the management of clinical service utilization reviews ensuring compliance and adherence to policies. Acting as the Corporate Compliance Officer and a member of the Executive Leadership Team, the role also drives compliance with internal and external standards including managed care authorizations, licensing, certification, and accreditation efforts such as CARF.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement strategic quality goals on an annual and quarterly basis for the agency.
- Manage data collection and reporting processes to monitor and improve agency goal achievement.
- Chair the agency Quality Management & Improvement Committee.
- Conduct record audits ensuring compliance with funding, licensing regulations, and quality standards.
- Design systems and procedures to ensure adherence to quality improvement and standards.
- Create training tools to enhance staff accuracy, efficiency, and program quality.
- Monitor and assess risk management and oversee critical incident and sentinel event reviews.
- Measure and evaluate performance analytics regularly.
- Act as liaison with licensing and certification organizations to meet relevant regulatory requirements.
- Ensure CMHC licensing, CCBHC certification, and CARF accreditation compliance and maintain related quality improvement plans collaboratively with clinical leadership.
- Provide updates and progress reports on accreditation and licensing compliance.
- Guide day-to-day corporate compliance including HIPAA and state privacy regulations, act as agency privacy officer, and conduct compliance investigations and reporting.
- Develop and update policies and procedures related to compliance, communicating effectively with executive leadership and the board.
- Lead, supervise, and develop quality management and medical records staff ensuring accurate, timely task completion and professional growth.
- Manage personnel recordkeeping, monitor attendance, and enforce organizational policies.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in a mental health discipline or business/management field.
- Licensure by the Kansas Behavioral Sciences Regulatory Board is required.
- At least five years experience in related fields such as community mental health organizations or behavioral health disciplines (Psychology, Social Work, Marriage & Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling).
- Knowledge of licensing and regulatory requirements specific to CMHC/CCBHC.
- Preferred prior experience in quality management and supervisory roles.
Skills and Abilities
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Strong knowledge of behavioral healthcare industry standards, regulations, and practices.
- Familiarity with community mental health services in Kansas and regulatory agencies affecting service organizations.
- Ability to analyze data, generate relevant reports, and implement strategies enhancing outcomes and resource efficiency.
- High ethical standards and confidentiality in organizational systems management.
- Experience with data reporting systems used by Kansas mental health providers.
- Capability to work collaboratively across departments fostering organizational goals and values.
- Effective prioritization and multitasking skills to manage diverse assignments.
- Innovative problem-solving skills ensuring continuous quality improvement.
- Ability to evaluate and recommend enhancements to quality improvement tools and processes.

Work Environment and Travel
This position is based in a central office in Kansas City, KS, with travel required to other agency locations. Occasional non-standard business hours and some travel for meetings or conferences may be necessary.
